AMMOGUIDE: Helping to Protect Gun-Rights
AmmoGuide has been proud to help protect the Second Amendment. For years, we've done what we can by working with NRA and other groups, volunteering our specific expertise - online communications - to help the cause. We thought AmmoGuide members might like a short rundown of some of our efforts:

  • NRA Members' Councils of California
We created, donated and maintain the online Legislative Info and Contact Tools System for the NRA Members' Councils of California. We receive direct updates from NRA staff in the Golden State and apply them to this highly-interactive webpage. The service distributes up-to-the-minute news about California gun-related bills and ordinances. It produces webpages in various formats, including an abbreviated "mini box" that can be easily displayed on any webpage. The well-known "ONE-CLICK" section connects concerned gun-owners with entire committees and legislative bodies. Our system helps NRA "get the word out" to many gun-owners across the state and averages about 25,000 page-views/day.
  • Volunteer with the NRA Members' Councils of California
We created, donated and maintain many other online NRA Members' Councils of California services like their Volunteer Signup page, Interactive Members' Council Locator, Contact your NRA Members' Council page and various internal communications and administration services to help NRA in California run their volunteer network.
  • AmmoGuide is glad to be a part of CalGuns.net, the newest major online California Gun-Rights resource. To help California gun-owners deal with the state's dizzying array of "assault weapon" regulations, legal beagles at CalGuns.net created a PDF-based "AW" Identification Flowchart. We were so impressed with their efforts, we were glad to create and donate, in the AmmoGuide Interactive tradition, an online, INTERACTIVE version of their fine document:

  • 2008 NRA Members' Councils of California Volunteer of the Year Award
    2008 Award
AmmoGuide Owner and Author Mike Haas has served as the President of the NRA Members' Council of West Contra Costa County since the group was founded in 1996. NRA Members' Councils are single issue volunteer organizations that are dedicated to getting gun owners involved in protecting their rights. Mike presides over monthly meeting where concerned activists share information and coordinate local grassroots activities in support of NRA's goals. Examples include letter-writing campaigns, setting up and manning recruitment booths and hosting "Eddie Eagle®" events. In 2008, Mike received the 2008 NRA Members' Councils of California Volunteer of the Year Award.

  • Fifty Caliber Institute
Mike also serves as webmaster for the Fifty Caliber Institute, a national organization dedicated to the advancement of the .50 caliber shooting sports. Where gun control groups have singled-out the .50 BMG as a specific target for new, onerous restrictions, FCI testifies in legislatures and committees agaist their false facts and hyped claims. FCI proudly recognizes the contributions made by the .50 cal sporting community to our law enforcement and military.
As with our members, we enjoy the shooting sports in in many ways. As well, we accept the solemn responsibility for the safety of our families and loved ones to the greatest extent possible. We believe that familiarity with firearms is healthy for a society and that our knowledge, history and values should affirmatively be passed onto our children.

The necessary basic ingredient in the recipe is Freedom. The Second Amendment was born in 1791 but the rights it describes are inalienable. Webster's defines the word as 'incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred'. Our Right to Keep and Bear Arms, among others, is not granted by any government or earthly authority. We owned it before there was a government and indeed exercised it to form one. We cannot shed it if we wanted to and it cannot be taken from us.

But you'de barely recognize such principles today, as those who govern and many of the governed seem to accept that government is all powerful. For whatever reasons, Americans slipped into an easy complacency with regard to limiting their government. But despite 40 years of dedicated and focused attacks by those who would restrict our gun-rights, Americans have organized and drawn the line, virtually halting the anti's progress and recovering ground in many cases.

We are proud to play our small part in holding that line.
