Never directly use a published charge unless it is specifically marked as a starting load. For all other listings, unless otherwise noted, reduce published charges by 3-5% to produce a starting load for your gun. Then, incrementally work up, being watchful for signs of over pressure. Best accuracy may be realized far below a listed maximum charge. One may not be able to actually reach a full published charge if their gun produces greater pressure than was experienced in the development firearm. Stay alert when reloading - be careful!

.510 DTC EUROP - http://ammoguide.com/?catid=437

In 2004, California passed AB 50, legislation which classified all .50 BMG rifles as "Assault Weapons". This required registration of existing guns and prevented new sales and transfers. As the legislation specifies the .50 BMG round, some manufacturers have responded by introducing alternatives to the .50 BMG that, in the final analysis, are ballistically quite competitive with the historic Browning cartridge. The .510 DTC EUROP is of this genre and is promoted by Bill Ritchie, owner of EDM Arms of Redlands, California.
http://edmarms.com/main.htm

The EDM Arms Windrunner Model 96 is a state-of-the-art 5-shot, 34-pound bolt-action design, guaranteed 1 m.o.a. at 1,000 yards with match ammunition. The rifle is also available for the .50 BMG, .338 Lapua and .338 EDM Magnum cartridges.

Bill Ritchie wrote this letter to a powerful CA State Senator in opposition to these misguided efforts:

Approximately five years ago due to similar laws in Europe, Mr. Eric Danis, owner of Dan Tec France, of France developed the 510 DTC EUROP .50 caliber cartridge. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge was discussed in the 2000-1 Fifty Caliber Shooter's Assn. (FCSA) High Power magazine as being comparable to the .50 BMG cartridge for 1000 yard match competition. To compare .510 DTC EUROP ballistics with other hi-power rounds, click here:
http://ammoguide.com/cgi-bin/bcompar...%7c437

The 510 DTC EUROP case is .100 of an inch shorter than the .50 BMG case, and has an 18-½ degree shoulder compared to the BMG's 15-degree shoulder. The 510 DTC EUROP case measures .760 diameter at the top of the shoulder compared to the BMG's measurement of .715 inch. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge utilizes a .510-inch diameter projectile such as the Hornady 750 grain A-MAX. The 510 DTC EUROP case has the same volume of powder capacity as the .50 BMG and has 1000-yard accuracy comparable to the BMG.

Simply stated, the 510 DTC EUROP is slightly fatter, straighter, steeper, and shorter than the BMG. Importantly, the .50 BMG cartridge will not chamber in the 510 DTC EUROP chamber and conversely, the 510 DTC EUROP will not chamber in the BMG chamber.

The 510 DTC EUROP is California legal and reloading dies and chamber reamers are currently available from several U.S. manufacturers including C-H Tool & Die Co., JGS Precision Tool MFG., and Dave Manson Precision Reamers.
